How to Sell Used Items Online

Year 2014 is the year of price hike for everything except our salary. To adapt to the drastic price hike, we have to spend wisely and reduce unnecessary expenses. Other than cutting expenses, we also need to increase our income in order to live comfortably.

So how do you handle the used items like clothes, computers, phones, books, bags and so on in your house? Just simply throw away or send to recycle centre? Well, you can actually post the used items which are still in good condition online for sale and make some money.

There are a few places that I would like to recommend for selling used items online:

Mudah.my is the largest online marketplace in Malaysia. With more than 5.2 million unique visitors a month, Mudah.my is one of the most visited internet sites in Malaysia. Mudah.my allows anyone to buy and sell in his/her region conveniently in a very simple manner, just like its name. You can sell almost anything in Mudah.my from books, clothes, computer parts, gadgets, cars to houses.

I was recently introduced to BookUp by the founder Mike Chu. BookUp is a project started by two young Malaysians, who truly believe in the value of books, dedicating themselves to help students and book readers to sell their books. By doing that, those unwanted books, also known as pre-loved books, will get a new owner that appreciates them. Through this process, the book owner will also get some extra cash. To understand more, you just need to spend 70 seconds for this video.

You can also sell used items via forums. Lowyat forum is the largest online community in Malaysia while Cari is the largest chinese forum in Malaysia. All you need to do is to sign up for an account, post a new topic with photos and details of the used item and start selling. This creates a win-win situation which buyer can get the item at lower price and seller can earn some extra money.
