Most standard cinema screens are small so the most obvious difference is the large IMAX screens which spans wall-to-wall and floor-to ceiling. The screen is not only wider and higher but also curved as well bringing the audience closer to the screen. Besides, IMAX’s proprietary, state-of-art projection systems provides 60% brightness and 40% more contrast than standard theaters.
In Malaysia, IMAX is available at TGV 1Utama, TGV Sunway Pyramid, TGV Tebrau and TGV Gurney Paragon Mall. Currently, there's an ongoing buy one free one IMAX movie ticket promotion exclusively for Maybank Credit Card members. From now until 31st May 2014, Maybankard members can get one complimentary ticket for purchase of IMAX Standard seat over the counter.
Each Maybankard member is eligible for a maximum of 2 free tickets per day. For IMAX 3D, customers need to top up for the glasses. The promotion is not valid for online ticketing, IMAX Premium and Twin seats. However, the promotion is applicable for mid night show on Thursday e.g. 12.30 am (Friday morning).
On the other hand, TGV Gurney Paragon is giving out free movie passes now for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" to preregistered participants. This is the latest Spider-Man movie that is going to screen on 30th April 2014. This promotion is subject to first-come-first-served basis based on hall capacity.
This is part of the activity, called TGV Cinemas Movie Ganza, that starts from 30th April until 2nd May 2014. Let's join in the fun and stand a chance to win IMAX passes and limited edition premiums.
